Objectives

The overall objective of the youth exchange “Empathy Opens the Doors” was to reduce bullying in our social surroundings by finding working solutions for that problem. For this reason, “Empathy Opens the Doors” empowered youth from Curacao, Georgia, Portugal, and Hungary with skills and knowledge that are important for realizing how they can help stop bullying in their social surroundings. The project also empowered participating youth to stand up to bullying, hate and prejudice instead of standing by watching. Through the lens of (cyber)bullying, our workshops helped them to explore themes of inclusion, respectful relationships, ethics, and empathy. Below are the expected outcomes of the project: • The participants shared their own experiences and learned from each other on the topic of bullying; • The participants learned how to notice and prevent bullying at an early stage; • The participants developed empathic abilities through a few simple self-care practices; • The participants learned how to spread all they learned during the exchange to reduce bullying in their social surroundings The project achieved envisioned objectives, as shown in the final evaluation report, as well as in individual testimonials and follow-up activities. Moreover, youngsters involved in the project reported increased knowledge about Erasmus+ Programme and such opportunities as ESC, Training courses, Youth exchanges, and at the same time, after first and positive mobility experience to get them inspired to look for different opportunities under Erasmus+ or other programs. And lastly, we aimed to increase awareness of project participants and the local community of Curacao about the European projects, EU values, European Citizenship, and increasing motivation for taking part in non-formal training activities. This was achieved by spreading project outputs and by media visibility (number of young people approaching FELIS Foundation with the request to provide more information about Erasmus+ mobility projects)
