Objectives

The aim of our project is to foster the capacity of youth workers and organisations to implement a policy of self-care that would prevent burn-outs and secondary traumas. To achieve such aim we have identified the following objectives: - To assess our resources and culture of self-care in the professionals and organisations involved - To develop our capacity to reflect and understand when we need to activate self-care mechanisms to prevent a mental condition - To list possible actions for self care and to promote a working environment that foster the well being of its workers - To advocate for a culture of self-care in local, national and international levels - To improve the competences of youth workers and the youth work itself - To create multipliers that will disseminate projects results and conclusions in our networks - To spread the opportunities that Erasmus plus offers We believe that this type of projects are important to boost youth workers competences and to create healthier relationships between youth and youth workers, reduce the costs associated to mental unbalances, promote better methods to work with the most vulnerable youth (traumatised, victims of violence, with mental problems, refugees and others that have experienced serious living events) and contribute for the recognition of youth workers and their important work, what is in line with Erasmus plus objectives. All organisations involve have experienced first hand workers that have developed mental disorders, and we are all motivated to prevent this from happening and start to pay more attention to the importance of self-care. We target directly all youth workers and management of the organisations. However the advocacy level aims to reach beyond our direct networks and to bring the issue of self-care to a mainstream culture at the youth work's level.
