Objectives

When growing up in a rural area it can be easy to be demotivated with the possibilities within the area. We wanted to create success stories among the participants that can motivate them to see new possibilities for them and for the rural area. We believe that through self-development among the participants there can be created opinion formers and leaders on entrepreneurship, who can start to see the advantages of the rural areas, as well - its nature. Thereby the Youth Exchange empowered the young participants to acquire the skills that can optimize the potential of the rural areas. Entrepreneurship happened when good ideas and innovations were converted to value for others. We believe that entrepreneurship isn’t limited to the private sector, but something that can happen in all parts of society and especially among young people. We also believe the entrepreneurial mind set can have both an economic value, but also a social value. Through entrepreneurship we wanted to give the youth an understanding of the opportunities that are hidden in the rural areas and nature to create an economic and social value that can benefit both the participants and the local society. This was what we would like to address through the acquisition of different competencies like cultural understanding, understanding on nature, thinking outside of the box, initiative and creativity. Entrepreneurship has not only a job creating and economic growth aspect, but also a social aspect. The value of the community can improve drastically and might decrease the migration of young people to the big cities. Through the project the participants acquired certain skills that can help them create and develop entrepreneurial projects in the rural areas in their home countries. At the end of the Youth Exchange the participants were encouraged to create ideas that can be implemented in their locations and thereby improving the chances on creating socio-economic value in the rural areas in the participants’ home countries. The Youth Exchange acted as a free space for the participants with various national backgrounds to work together and be the ones to make positive educational changes in their communities, proving the effectiveness of non-formal learning. The Participants built a bridge of communication among their peers of different lifestyles and experience. Worth to mention that the project provided interactive communication among cultures and individuals, groups and organisations with different educational backgrounds and behavioral skills, through getting insight into the benefits of international Youth Exchange, its interactive activities and methods. This project opening new learning horizons, had a strong impact on the participants and their communities and will “cause” worthy and high quality follow-up projects, ensuring the learned skills’ continues long-term impact on the participants’, their peers, organisations and communalities.
