Heart Multipliers aimed to equip European youngsters with practical, concrete and accessible tools and skills to become more resilient and emotionally intelligent. The focus of this project was to explore together different approaches and strategies that can be used to implement new ways to relate, work and live together in participants' social contexts and realities. This project was initially born out of the requests and reflections of the participants of the YE "From Emotions to Meaning", that took place in the summer of 2019 in Ommen, Netherlands. During 10 days, 36 youngsters gathered to explore and develop skills in the topic of emotional agility. This is, the ability to acknowledge, accept and accurately name our emotions, even the hardest ones, in order to become more resilient and flexible to cope with everyday life challenges. By the end of the YE and during the evaluation dialogue that took place in the following months, participants shared their insecurities and desires regarding implementing their learnings into new and already established social circles. There was a clear understanding that they were then more self-knowledgeable and emotionally intelligent, and consequently also more aware that there was a gap between the safe environment that they were able to create for themselves during the YE and other spaces that they were currently inserted in. This was especially true for participants with fewer opportunities. Therefore, Heart Multipliers ( later one named Heartbeat) goal was, first of all, to help youngsters to develop the emotional skills necessary to become more resilient and adaptable to cope with the complexity of current times. Simultaneously, this YE offered a framework and approach, as well as a specific toolbox in emotional intelligence, that supported European youth to cultivate long-term emotional competencies and resilience in their own communities. The objectives of this training were: To bring together 26 youngsters for a YE To improve their emotional skills through different workshops and embodied activities To create a safe space in which youth could openly share their personal struggles, the challenges of their own social context and exchange insights and learnings. To develop a specific toolbox with methodologies, activities and techniques based on the insights generated by the group that could be later used to multiply the outcomes of the YE among their peers and social contexts To develop a booklet with a compilation of activities in emotional intelligence based on the main needs, experiences and demands from the group to support them in creating change in their own community. To develop intercultural competencies and appreciation for diversity among the participants through empathy practices and activities To create 6 workshops on emotional agility to be delivered in the home countries of participants
