Objectives

With the rise of hate speech and the increasingly tense situation in Europe, sexism is growing. The roots of sexism lie deep in our societies. Even though sexism is an everyday companion, because of its complexity and entanglement with our culture(s) it is difficult to fully understand it - especially for male-identified persons. Often sexism is only talked about in a superficial matter. Ignoring our everyday involvement in the power structures. Therefore it is important to confront the topic on a personal level, in a very sensitive matter. In this Youth Exchange, we want each individual to enter an intimate and personal journey to develop an awareness and understanding of sexism and gender disparities in their societies and cultures and their role and place in it to reduce sexism behavior on all levels. The Youth Exchange took place In Mtskheta Georgia, where was ensured the creation of a specific learning environment. The participants were challenged to reflect upon their personal behaviors and relationships and the dynamic of the group while always analyzing their individual part in it. The aims of the project were: 1. To encourage active citizenship, by demonstrating to youngsters the ability they hold to make a difference and impact the society, and encouraging them to participate actively in the community. 2. To Enable participants to understand sexism as an obstacle for a peaceful/nonviolent society/Europe 3. To put the light on the Erasmus plus program, to reach out to the target groups suitable for Youth Exchanges. At the same time to show the local community how Youth Exchange projects can affect and mobilize youth. 4. To encourage and support intercultural bridging to raise awareness of the complexity of personal identity and deconstruct stereotypes andprejudices.
