We wanted the leaders and teachers at the schools who participated in the project to; - increased language competance and communication skills in english and foreign languages - be more reflected towards their own and others' teaching practice - gain insight into other schools assessment practices - discover a variety of forms of teacher-student collaboration - get new perspectives on pedagogical leadership - examine how teachers and school management can gain results together - achieve up to date skills within their disciplines - be more motivated staff with more knowledge that can spread good practice in their own school and in the county as a whole - achieving an interest in international cooperation We expected that this would lead to a general increased awareness and openness about teaching and other relevant topics at each school. We also believed it could have a positive effect towards internationalisation and that it might lead to increased international activity at all levels in the schools included in the project. It will benefit the pupils to have motivated, dedicated, skilled, and updated teachers. This is the best starting point for pupils to learn more, and have a high quality of the teaching. We expect that the key activities will contribute to inreased social competanse, international competanse and language competance- in particular communication. We expect that the mobilities will contribute to strengthen teaching of foreign languages and ease the communications skills in english in our schools when collaborating with existing and new potential partners from other countries.
The background for this project are the plans for school development in the part of Viken called Østfold, one of the three counties that merged to a larger county named Viken in 2020. Both the two other counties, Akershus and Buskerud have active Erasmus + consortium within KA101 staff mobility. As a step towards building this larger region Viken, and build competance and strengthen internationalisation within education, we found it important that also the schools in the part of Viken called Østfold also got the opportunity to join an Erasmus+ KA1 Consortium. Alle the three regions have had their own international strategies/plans that will exist until a new common strategy is decided. This project is the first Erasmus + KA1 Consortium in the part of Viken county called Østfold. The project includes school leaders and teachers in 7 of 11 upper secondary schools in Østfold. There are two main overall objectives for this consortium; 1. Further develop and strengthen internationalisation and collaboration across borders including leaders and teachers in all upper secondary schools in one part of the large county Viken, called Østfold . Alle the three regions merged into the larger region called Viken have had their own international strategies/plans that will exist untill a new common strategy is decided. 2. Strengthen the work with strategic and political objectives for school development in the part of Viken called Østfold, and also in every part of Viken. The new curriculum in foreign languages and english have among others the following objectives to make the pupils be more active users of the language, and communication and active use of the language are more sentral in the teaching of languages than earlier. Social competance is also a very important competance both at school and at home. The original plan involved sending 50 leaders and teachers and from 7 of the 11 upper secondary schools in Østfold on staff mobility activities in various European countries. The activities did mainly consist of job shadowing (34) at a partner school and participation in structured courses ( 16). The outburst of the covid-19 pandemic and the long lasting school strike altered these ambitions.
