A general improvement of teacher awareness and work on the topic of "deep learning" through inquiry based teaching methods, to further support the 2020 educational reform. Alongside the reform, our school underwent a remarkable remodelation that led to a new set-up in classrooms that are now called "Flexi-rooms". Flexi-rooms can be used in a myriad of ways that are unfamiliar to over 95% of our staff. Thus our aims included teacher training where 21st century skills were at the forefront and where this modern type of furniture and classroom set-up play a pivotal role. We thus realized that with the 2020 reform and our remodelation, we had six aims we hoped to achieve: - subject specific competence - learning how to learn - self regulation and self-awareness - increased competence in research and creative methods - communication and social skills. A final, but not less important aim for our school is to bring digital competence to the forefront by helping teachers feel more confident with the efficient use of technology in the classroom. As a result, more teachers have become interested in possibilities of learning more about how to carry out mobilities that may involve student participation or job shadowing opportunities.
Our school's development plan aims to strengthen our current teacher's expertise and increase their awareness of partnership and networking possibilities made available through Erasmus courses and networking opportunities. To achieve this, we aimed to engage with job shadowing and training opportunities related to 21st century skills based on Tony Wagner's (2012) theory of the 6 C's. Furthermore, out school development and strategic plan supports the areas of mathematics, life skills, digital competences and international work. Based on this we wanted to improve the overall student results, improve the number of students completing successfully their high school studies and increase the much needed life skills in our students.
