Participating in European mobility and cooperation had a goal of being a catalyst for the professional development and reflection of both teachers and students. We wanted both the teachers and students to feel that European activities gives them new perspectives on their own professional practice and knowledge about working and living outside Norway. There are two key areas we wanted to improve. Professional training in enterprises during placement periods for our students, and teachers involvement in transnational collaboration with other European countries. In this project we gave our students the possibility to get experience from and insight automation by using a modern German enterprise where also renewable energy has a strong focus.. We see our teachers as the main motivators for the inclusion of our students. As an organization involved in international activities we also see the need for better language competence.
Knarvik Vgs. has considerably increased its activities in international activities. We had the objective of involving more teachers and students, We wanted to open up for more international contacts which will give our teachers, students and apprentices important learning opportunities. For some years we had a priority of sending our teachers to our partners in France and Germany, but by using Erasmus+ funding we have been able to involve many teachers in job-shadowing. These job-shadowing activities has led to more contact between our teachers and the teachers at our partner schools. This give us the chance to the upstart of new activities where the students also are involved. With different funding of the job-shadowing activities we established a stronger collaboration making possible to set up placement periods in enterprises. In this way we reach our priority of integrating both our teachers and students more in Europe.
