The aims of the project were to motivate more students at level 2 to complete upper secondary school, apply for an apprenticeship after school and take a vocational certificate. In addition, through the project we wanted to make the school more attractive and relevant for students and teachers, but also for the skilled labor market we recruit for. Through international experiences, we wanted students and teachers to strengthen their language skills, tolerance, flexibility and independence and increase their intercultural competence. We also wanted to give the students practical experience from working life in other countries and build upon this in the classrooms at home both for participants in mobility and for the rest of the class.
In order for each student to succeed on the labor market, and for the businesses in Nordland and Lofoten to be competitive in an international market, it is important that young people through education acquire good language skills, greater international orientation and intercultural understanding. Aust-Lofoten Upper Secondary School wants to strengthen vocational education within the program areas we offer: Health and education, Technology and industry and Sales, service and tourism. Good recruitment to vocational education is key and depends on the school's ability to promote our classes and our benefits as a school. In addition, our education must be of high quality, so that students experience mastery and succeed in achieving their goals. Teachers must experience the school as a dynamic workplace and companies in Lofoten must experience that the school delivers good candidates for apprenticeships, with relevant and up-to-date competence in their backpacks.
