Objectives

We wanted to achieve the following concerning the pupils; Increased motivation to become apprentice and in that way help secure the need of hands in the healcth care system in Norway. We also aimed for higher motivation to pass their exams and to increase their effort in school. Other than that, we want the pupils to experience different cultures to give them a greater understanding and acceptance of others. In Østfold, we need to work against racisme, a lot of pupils have never travelled and need this experience. Also to work in a foreign country is meaningful as to appreciate a lot of the rights we have as inhabitants in Norway.

Background

We applied for this project for several reasons. First of all, there is a need to motivate the pupils in Health and Social Care studies to become health workers, and not nurses. We wanted to send pupils abroad to experience the possibilities with a certificate of apprenticeship. We also want to motivate the pupils to finish their education with good results. We also have a need to update the ways our teachers teach these subjects. We need to learn more about how to upgrade and modernize our teaching methods. Job Shaddowing is also meant to moitvate the teachers to stay in their job and feel it is meaningful. Other than this, we want both teachers and pupils about the importance of democracy, and to promote an understanding of other cultures and nationalities. Intercultural understanding, preventing school drop-out and preventing racism are all important aims for us.
