Objectives

Our main goals for our project IIE were to: 1: Boost our school’s sense of European dimension within education through the development of transnational projects 2: Strengthen the quality of teaching and learning through internationalization and the advancement of more active and innovative teaching practices 3: Support the significance of curricular monitoring to stimulate and develop teachers’ professional training 4: Promote a sense of EU citizenship that values professional, social, and personal areas. These objectives targeted both strengthening opportunities for cooperation and mobility of staff within the EU while promoting external opportunities to learn that were different to the everyday local offers available and thus stimulate the desire for lifelong learning that broaden skill sets, competences, know-how and simultaneously reinforce active citizenship. This would allow staff to transfer such experiences, skills, knowledge, and competences into our educational environment thereby strengthening actions and activities set out in the Norwegian National Education Plan and the county’s International Strategy Plan.

Background

Rogaland County’s “International Strategy Plan" (ISP) for 2021-22 aimed at encouraging projects within an EU context that encouraged inclusiveness and innovation. Given the increasingly multi-cultural diversity of our student body at the start of 2018, our SOTS department of Adult Education (VO) looked to strengthen further its educational offers, which were based on a culture of inclusiveness, innovation, quality, responsibility and professionalism in its response to the increasingly changing makeup of the student body that had quite different life experiences, socio-cultural backgrounds, academic competences and approaches to learning. The general well-being and needs of students are paramount. Meeting specific needs & knowledge/experience gaps of our human resources contributes to overall professional advancement and well-being which directly promotes general well-being of all. This project's actions aimed to: -contribute to the creation of a more diverse identity -raise awareness of other innovative pedagogical materials/methodologies that are of scientific interest for the educational community -exposure to opportunities of collaboration to promote professional and personal skills as well as a sense of EU citizenship.
