Objectives

One of the aims working with internationalization has been to trace a pattern and see if this will influence the choice of school/choice of vocational cources among young people. In the past, the school has been well known, and recognized, for sending large groups of students to Europe on work practice during their 2-year education. This was known among young people who were to apply for upper secondary education. Throughout the years of the pandemic, the school has not been able to show any activity in the area, apart from a few digital solutions. Young people in primary school have thus not heard about the opportunity when they apply to school these last years. The school's European development plan needs more focus in the upcoming years. The time to implement this again began this school year. Throughout the project, we wanted good quality assurance at all stages. This has been challenging as there have been new employees in most positions for this work in our school. There has been new management, new department heads, coordinators and teachers. Through this project, we have seen the need to start a bit "over again".

Background

The project application was made in connection with the school's awarded Erasmus+ Charter. The school has had projects in this program period since 2016, and this project is the last in the series. The project was supposed to be completed in 2022, but due to the pandemic, the project has been postponed. Borgund vocational school actively worked with internationalization and has strived to provide opportunities for students. Over the years, the number of participants has increased, as has the number of partners. The quality of the projects, also through Charter, has been high. When this project was to be carried out, we experienced that there have been major changes, both internally in the organization and outside in Europe. This has made us aware that there is a lot our school needs to work on in order to once again demonstrate a high level of quality in what we offer our students. The intentions that were laid down when applying for the project were good, but the prerequisites for implementation have changed significantly. The project's main aim is to give our students an extraordinary and unique learning experience in a relevant international arena. We believe we have achieved this, but not for enough students, and not in such a form that the school wanted for this project.
