The planned activities regarding A1 are mobilities for second year students in vocational programs. One of the subjects is called Yrkesfaglig fordypning (YFF) which is directly translated as vocational intensification. YFF consists of objectives from the third year curriculum in their trade (curriculum for apprenticeship, two years in a company) YFF should preferably be completed through training in a company. The curriculum goals are broken down and the students, in collaboration with their teacher and training company, agree on which curriculum goals that are realistic to achieve during the training period in that company. Most curricula have goals that deal with international affairs. By completing parts of the subject YFF abroad in foreign companies and institutions, students will, in addition to achieving many curriculum goals within the field, gain a lot of additional skills. We also have a group of students who have divided the program over three years. They travel internationally through the program subjects vocational practice and communication and interaction, as well as the study program entrepreneurship. They increase their social competaence and learn to know themselves and their fellow pupils in a new situation. The cultural differences, both in working life and leisure, between Norway and the country they travel to, will contribute to the praticipants gaining a more open view of differences also in their own contry, especially in relation to people form other parts of the world.
The regional office of Trøndelag has internationalization as an area of focus, which Verdal Upper secondary school has also had for several years. We have sent out many students in the subject Vocational Intensification (YFF) in the past, and the feedback from the students is unanomously positive, so the school wants to offer this to our future students as well. Students who have participated refer to increased knowledge in both program subjects and language subjects alike, as well as greater cultural understanding and social training.
