Objectives

Professional pride and increased status for vocational subjects, competence enhancement for formal and non-formal competence, as well as helping to prevent dropouts in upper secondary education are the strategic goals for Innlandet county council. Our aim is that through a mobility stay in Europe, young people will gain increased cultural understanding, language skills in both English and a third language, as well as to use English as a working language in addition to a third language. A stay abroad where you have the opportunity to both work and live increases flexibility and insight into how tasks are carried out in another country, and the apprentice comes back stronger and makes a positive contribution to the apprenticeship company.

Background

The International Service Office (ISO) applied for Erasmus funds to achieve one of the strategic goals in the Inland region of increased international involvement. During the project period, ISO has worked to further develop the mobility offer in the region so that more people in the target group will know about the possibility and make use of the opportunity for international mobility. The main objective has been to give apprentices in the Inland region the opportunity to work and live in another European country for a period of their trainee ship. In order to achieve the goal, we have initiated closer cooperation with the training office and apprentice managers in large municipalities, as well as established a network for coordinators for international cooperation in the upper secondary schools in the region of Innlandet. The aim of mobility in vocational subjects is also to increase the attractiveness so that young people choose to apply for vocational education and in that way meet the needs of the business world for skilled labour.
