Through this leadership course; Peacemaker Global Week, YGlobal aims to empower young volunteers or youth workers in the field of advocacy and peace-building skills, by providing them with the necessary tools and by presenting global issues: on how to build a movement, wealth inequality, human rights, peacemaking and environmental awareness. All these problematic areas are in line with our organisation's main thematic areas: Democratic justice, Just Peace, Economic justice and Environmental justice. As part of the World YMCA, YGlobal aims to strengthen the relationships we have with our partner organisations from the movement; organisations which have similar ideology and with which we have common objectives in the fight for a just world. This year, Global Week focused on the Peacemaker's concept and how organisations can reach the Sustainable Development Goals.Through Global week several of the SDGs where adressed and exemplified in already exsisting projects. This project was created to address a big part of these goals and exemplify through already existing projects YGlobal and some partners are engaged in. Through this initiative and European partnerships, we seeked to enable young people from different backgrounds to be active citizens in their communities, capable of creating positive change. International policies are dependent on local action to fulfil their goals, and YMCA and YWCA - being the world's largest youth organisation and the worlds biggest women organisation - has the potential to play a unique role in this. These are some of the objectives that the project aimed at achieving: 1. To equip young people with advocacy tools for engaging in policy reformation at community, regional, national and international levels, to ensure that youths are a part of the decision making processes. 2. To equip young leaders to build alliances and structured dialogues (both between each other and between their organisations) across geographical, cultural and religious boundaries, in order to coordinate their campaigns for a greater impact. 3. To teach youth workers various skills, methods and techniques in order for them to easily achieve their objectives in the field of youth work. 4. To facilitate an exchange of experience between the attending youth workers and organisations, highlighting the different scenarios and obstacles that might be encountered in the field of youth work throughout Europe and the world. 5. To give the participants the chance to talk about international policies and the SDGs and analyse how civil society can work in order to achieve the desired policy change. 6. To build, maintain and further strengthen the relationships between the European organisations. Through this mobility YGlobal wants to make sure that the youth workers attending will be able to reach their full potential. Young people might have the motivation, but they may not have the knowledge and tools to follow through on their goals. Through this project our objective aimed at bridging this gap in creating the leaders of tomorrow. The overarching issues that we addressed focus on creating a movement through the Peacemaker concept, achieved through youth involvement and youth empowerment. The main need that we will try to satisfy, is the need of youth workers to manage to mobilize youth effectively and to gain access and participate in decision making processes. By doing this we are reaching both the participating organisations' internal goals of empowering young people and following up on the Sustainable Development Goals - as well as contributing to the world wide work to make young people a bigger part of decision making processes and stimulate them to work on the SDGs.
