Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we wanted to adapt our teaching staff competences to the needs of the "new" student who appeared in school after the introduction of the 2019 education reform. The improvement of teachers' competences concerned, in particular, the implementation of: - innovative working methods adapted to the needs of the 3.0 generation student (flipped classroom, gamification), - ICT tools and technologies (in their broad meaning) in the organization and the teaching process. In addition, we aimed to improve the quality of the school's performance by introducing modern management solutions and by preventing burnout syndrome among teachers.

Background

The project was a response to the needs included in the European School Development Plan. The appearance of new two-year younger students in our school showed that we needed some additional training to work with them. Teachers needed competences related to the psychological and emotional development of students at this age, knowledge of up-to-date, modern methods used in the European Union, as well as the use of IT techniques. The particularly stressful requirements connected with teaching led to the risk of burnout syndrome of teachers. Certain steps had to be taken to counteract it. Another area to be improved was the management style. Managerial staff needed to learn about new, more democratic and effective methods of management based on European patterns. Due to the relatively low effectiveness of teaching foreign languages in our school and generally in most schools in Poland, compared to some EU countries, the project aimed at methodological improvement in this area.
