Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we wanted to influence the personal development of the student and the teacher, broaden knowledge about other cultures, familiarize with the customs of the countries from which the newly arrived students come. We wanted the personal development of the student to broaden his horizons, which in turn was to affect the results of teaching, including achievements in external vocational and matriculation exams. At the stage of writing the application, we wanted teachers to be enriched with new intercultural skills, which they would use in the tasks assigned to them affecting the development of the school (care for students from other countries, care during professional internships abroad, international exchanges, trips abroad for students and teachers in European projects).

Background

We applied for the project because we wanted to create a multicultural facility that would enable integration with the community of other cultural and linguistic areas, including foreigners attending our school. One of the main goals was to form a teacher - a conscious citizen of Europe. The planned formal and informal activities were aimed at shaping appropriate attitudes and acquiring skills and knowledge based on various experiences and the educational influence of the environment. We intended to familiarize students with the countries of origin of their newly arrived colleagues, which resulted in building a positive image of other cultures, arousing curiosity and understanding for diversity. Working with young people from different cultures and nationalities is very important to us and, at the same time, it is a big challenge, so the teacher's multicultural preparation was the overriding element to give the education process a European dimension, so that both pupils and teachers develop a sense of European identity and understanding of basic values of European civilization.
