Objectives

The study trip for the English language course, aimed to resolve the issue of poor knowledge of English among our lower-level employees, which would allow for a higher standard of provided services. The activity was also meant to be a form of reward for loyal work, motivating our employees to remain at the Foundation. Establishing relationships built on trust with clients is key for effectiveness of our work. The second training was supposed to help improve cooperation with people from varied backgrounds, develop the ability to see the potential for joint work with migrants in the area of integration, and the employees were to exchange experiences with other specialists, in order to additionally widen their perspectives. After their return, the attendees had to conduct a training for the rest of the team to share their new knowledge. The last activity was meant to allow us to establish cooperation with a legal organisation in Europe and learn its methods of work in practice. We were interested in the areas of increasing public awareness of law, “street law” and education of young lawyers. We wanted to compare our marketing methods with those of other organisations with the aim of improving our reach among potential beneficiaries.

Background

Due to the diverse nature of our clients’ cases, our employees must stay in their best intellectual form. The development of soft skills and broadening of horizons are key in work with other people, providing legal aid, as well as organising educational and training services. A lack of opportunities for growth may also be a factor deciding about the continuation of cooperation with a given company, which we’d like to mitigate. One of the major problems we’ve faced at work was the low level of proficiency in the English language among some of our staff, especially those employees who constantly interact with foreigners. Not only that, foreigners coming from different backgrounds are sometimes a little enigmatic to us. Cultural differences, even in just the communication style are able to distrupt the effectiveness of work of our experts. Additionally, for a long time we’ve been interested in getting to know the work methods of different organisations, with the aim of improving our own. We were also curious about the extent of the need for cooperation between organisations similar to ours on the European scale, and we wanted to find some long-term partners outside of Poland.
