Objectives

Samar, a nineteen-year-old girl who fled from Syria with her family and settled in Slovenia, together with several friends: Luke (18), Weronika (18) and Katarzyna (17) initiated a beautiful European initiative to publicize the problem of refugees in Europe, their discrimination, self-eliminating values that fade away in every person rejected by society. Youth exchange, in which 38 young people will participate through discussions and integration, will promote tolerance, experiential learning, understanding, acceptance of broadly understood 'otherness'. Young people decided to prepare the final theater play in the spirit of Theatrum Mundi, understood as a reflection of the real world, describing the peculiarities and wonders of journey, which is part of the "theater of a human life". The theme of Theatrum Mundi is to describe people as puppets whose lives are just a plain episode, which is often aimed at showing that people are helpless about certain matters. Participants will prepare a performance script focusing on the individual touching history of a family escaping from tragedy in search for a safe place to live, provoking the viewers to reflect on values, evoking empathy, compassion and a willingness to understand or help. The youth see a huge need for public discussion of unfathomable topics, conducting social dialogue in the context of avoided topics, or social acceptance of 'unwanted' individuals. Participants want the emotions in art to be expressed without unnecessary words, but through gestures and purely visual reception of art to awaken a viewer's imagination. This message will be also enriched with the eloquent scenery and actors-puppets expressing emotions. The performance will take place during the celebration of World Refugee and Migrant Day on 09/29/2020. Goals defined by young people: - developing a learning culture, - personal development, - development of creativity and entrepreneurship, - increase of intercultural awareness, - European solidarity and integration, - spreading the principles of democracy and religious liberalism, - social sensitization. Also, the exchange of experiences, views, knowledge, and protection of common values.
