Objectives

The "Sport Connecting People" project aimed to increase our physical activity and social contacts. As we spend more and more time on the Internet and social media, our physical activity is slowly declining, leading to obesity and various health problems. Increasingly lush virtual life takes place at the expense of our real social relationships, which limits our traditional communication skills as well as cooperation and functioning in direct contact. By participating in our project, we intended to reverse these trends. We wanted to broaden our awareness of the importance of sport and recreation in the life and development of young people in order to get to know and experience various attractive forms of physical activity that we will popularize among our peers. Based on backyard games and activities from other countries, we intended to learn how to actively organize free time and propose it to our friends as new forms of spending free time during breaks in our schools, PE lessons and in our yards. As we come from small towns, where the opportunities are smaller than in large cities, the project was an opportunity for us to establish European contacts, integrate with young people from other countries, and communicate lively in English. Additional benefits that we intended to recognize were the risks associated with sport, such as aggression in sport, doping. We also wanted to broaden the openness of our communities to people from other countries and cultures.
