Heart tools are the tools of non-formal education methodology that we wanted to pass into the hands of youth activists to support young people in spreading the promotion of equality and human rights in the European Union and beyond. The need to hand over these tools resulted from the incident in July 2017, when Youssef Chadid, a Poznań imam, was intimidated, which was associated with a wave of religious hatred in Poznań and Europe. Vulgar inscriptions offending Islam and its followers appeared on the walls near our organization. The fear grew stronger, but the Poznań world of NGOs and brave citizens showed solidarity and disagreement with this type of behavior through demonstrations, strikes, and open letters of support. The Imam stayed in the country, but the fear did not pass away. Living in the EU, we sometimes forget why this community was created and what its original assumptions are, ie creating an area of freedom, security and justice. During the course of the project, the human rights crisis deepened, specially in Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey where the projects participants came from. At the international level, national minorities, sports teams and their fans, religious groups, politicians and ordinary citizens were and are visibly offended. On the other hand, the beneficiaries of the partner organizations presented in this application, ie children and adolescents, complained about the "mediocrity" of their environment, about the greyness and the lack of a sense of influence on its change. HEARTools met these challenges. Projects expected goals were: 1. Promotion of human rights through art in public space. 2. Increasing the influence of young people on their environment and role in local communities. 3. Strengthening tolerance and respect for human rights in the media. 4. Increasing the competences of youth workers.
