We decided to implement the project "The change always starts from yourself" to give ourselves a chance to make a change within ourselves in: sensitizing us to environmental issues, having knowledge about how to effectively counteract the negative effects of climate change, and also realizing the importance of building citizenship us to protect the beauty of the natural environment in which we live every day and to be able to counteract the negative effects of climate change that are taking place "before our eyes". So we came to the conclusion that for this we need to thoroughly understand the idea of civic engagement and define the concept of a citizen in local, national and international terms in order to be able to "fight for a better future" for ourselves, our families, local communities, citizens and residents of our shared home which is Europe. In our opinion, understanding the essence of civic activities is the key to caring for a shared home, in this case the natural environment that we love so much. We hope that during the project a change will occur in each of us, which will allow us to act effectively, look at reality in many dimensions, to realize that we have causative power manifesting in the possibility of taking civic actions (our own, as well as initiated and coordinated by us) through which we will be able to take care of the natural environment and counteract the negative effects of climate change. The main goal of the project which we formulated together in a group of 42 people is to expand our awareness of both the overall perception of environmental issues as well as being a citizen, civic attitudes and the idea of civic engagement. During the project, we intend to learn how to work together to protect the environment and counteract the negative effects of climate change not only locally, nationally but also internationally. In this way, we will gain a broad perspective and broaden our own horizons in terms of the main topics of the project, which in turn will allow us to be more effective in local activities and will also open the door wide to take challenges also internationally. Another important goal of the quest "The change always starts from yourself" which we are aiming to achieve is the development of project awareness, without which it is impossible to take systemic actions in the field of environmental protection and popularizing civic activities.
