Objectives

The main objective of the project "Democracy without borders" was to develop a positive attitude and the ability of young people to participate in the democratic system as active citizens. The assumption of the project was to co-create the social awareness of young people so that in the future they would be involved in creating a civil society, decide about the future of their own country and common Europe. Specific issues addressed by the project were as follows: increasing youth participation and its role in democratic societies and in shaping policies, presenting the institutions and mechanisms of democracy, promoting a united European Union. The project stemmed from the verbalized needs of the partner organizations and the participants themselves. The intention of the project was to find out what democracy means to young people nowadays, what is its perception in different environments and what are the practical manifestations of participation in democratic life, e.g. by voting, running in elections, or supporting a political option. Through the implementation of the project, we wanted to ask young people what the mechanisms of democracy in their countries look like, how they understand the definition of democracy, how they perceive it, how they see the future of common Europe also in the creation of common legislation. Finally, the project aimed to discuss the possibilities of increasing the involvement of young people in civic life.
