Objectives

The effects of climate change are noticeable around the world. According to the IPCC Special Report (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) "Global Warming of 1.5 ° C" with an increase in the average global temperature by 2 ° C they will be much more serious than it was predicted. More sudden and abrupt lightning discharges happen more and more frequently. Such a sharp rise in temperature is caused by human activity. If we don't reduce greenhouse gases quickly, it could be even higher. The critical point, which is only 2°C, if exceeded, will cause the global balance of climate system to shake. We are witnessing dynamic climate change related to human activities. It's time to act! Ecological education is a continuous element of teaching process on all educational levels. For many years the role and significance of shaping appropriate attitudes among children and youth towards rapidly changing climate reality has been increasingly growing. There is a close relationship between the climate crisis and human rights. Therefore, climate protection, air quality and adequate civic attitudes account for a part of sustainable development education, present in many Polish schools. As well youth workers as youngsters showing a strong pro-ecological approach uphold that any exercises or tasks promoting sustainable development education should be also implemented within non-formal education pathway. Youth workers gathered active youngsters in their regions. The youth is eagerly interested in their environment. In particular countries youth workers arranged internal workshops for ecology-oriented youth. Both groups exchanged their viewpoints, suggestions and valuable tips. The workshops concerned plenty of changes, which should be made by a human in order to minimize negative effects of climate changes. The result of workshops in all countries was so-called ‘a list of wishes’. The above mentioned list of wishes indicates detailed project activities which were planned by young peopl together with youth workers. Both groups defined the following project objectives: - expanding knowledge and raising civic awareness in the scope of climate changes - tightening cooperation and synergy between European countries reaching common goals - motivating and encouraging society to act in favour of environment protection - developing ecology-based interests - dissemination of sustainable development knowledge - promoting active, civic and pro-European attitudes - popularization of volunteering in favour of environment protection
