Objectives

In the environment that we live in, full of promotion of perfect lives, impact of social media, image of beauty, wealth, health and happiness, there is no place to take a step back and take it all with a pinch of salt. This all affects negatively an image that young people have about themselves. No matter how hard they try, no matter how successful they are, no matter how good students or partners they are – there is always someone richer, thinner, smarter, or more powerful. Someone that makes them feel small in comparison. Our contemporary society lacks the knowledge about the importance of real self-identity and self-acceptance. Our main goal is to give the chance for youngsters to improve their awareness about how important it is to be in harmony with themselves, simply accepting the way they are, without constant chase of being perfect. We believe that in order to have a satisfactory and balanced life young people need to understand own needs, to have compassion on themselves and use own REAL potential at the fullest. Self-love offers a stability no matter the situation - when being successful as well as when failing. We want to enable participants to be in the state of emotional safety needed to see themselves clearly and make whatever changes are necessary to address their own needs and desires. The three main objectives of our ‘My inner power: SELF-LOVE’ youth exchange are the following: 1. young people will expand their knowledge about self-love, -care and -compassion; influence of low level of self-love on own development; the importance of self-acceptance as well as of having own self-criteria. Theoretical knowledge and methods (of self-reflection, dealing with failures, self-compassion, nonviolent communication etc.) will be learnt 2. participants will acquire skills that will enable them to start working on increasing their self-love: they will get better in introspection, self-compassion, thinking positively about themselves, using a nonviolent language, understanding and answering own needs, being assertive and independent from others, accepting the real themselves 3. youngsters will change attitude towards themselves: openness for self-love, -compassion and less criticism, stronger belief in own strengths, willingness to forgive own failures; awareness of importance of own real needs and self-acceptance; critical thinking and bigger independence from social pressure. Through intensive process of accepting oneself, youngsters will develop understanding of diversities among people as well as will learn the common value of tolerance and respect. We expect their learning performance to raise and career prospects to improve due to better understanding of their own needs and developed self-empowerment. Moreover we believe that their internal change will improve the active participation and own initiatives in community as participants will see themselves as opportunity and will be ready to take an action. This is why our project meets the objectives of Erasmus + programme too.
