Objectives

The implemented project under the ERASMUS+ program was one of the main elements of the "Internationalization Strategy of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters for 2017-2020". It included operational and strategic goals that significantly affected the cooperation with international partner institutions. The goal of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters was to develop a set of good practices (with the aim of improving internal procedures) on the basis of the countries to which the mobilities took place and on this basis, to develop/implement a new professional development program for officers of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters in both theoretical and practical areas. Its implementation will have a real and direct impact on improving press officers' communication with the media. The present project has significantly enriched the educational offer for police officers and police employees. It enabled, among other things, the expansion of professional qualifications through the implemented mobility in partner countries. The implementation of the project had a significant impact on the positive image of the organization in the international arena.

Background

The Chief of Warsaw Metropolitan Police places special emphasis on providing opportunities for his staff and employees in international conferences and training courses. He also provides opportunities for internships, work placements with its own and EU funds and supports in applying for international courses and exchanges. Considering the increased consciousness and dynamics of development of every aspect of professional life, it is required for the staff and employees of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police to improve their professional skills in operational police management, both in normal states and in emergency situations. The Warsaw Metropolitan Police, while applying for the project, wanted among other things,to learn about how social communication departments (press departments) function in other police districts in the various EU countries and to discuss in particular, how to communicate interpersonally and socially with the citizens, how to solve communication problems with the other person, "defense" techniques and "softening" words, and general procedures for working with the mass media.
