Bearing in mind that young people are the future of Europe, we wanted to interest our adolescents in regional traditions and to share this cultural heritage on a wider scale, thus passing it onto future generations and saving it from oblivion. Moreover, being aware that the traditional teaching methods and techniques are insufficient nowadays and young people expect new challenges and experiences, therefore, together with a school from Romania, we decided to write a project entitled "Regional traditions eternally living.", which will meet these needs and achieve the following goals: strengthen cooperation between partner schools, foster contact and intercultural dialogue among students, promote learning English as the main tool in international communication, emphasize the importance of culture, tradition and the history of the region as an element of patriotism and national awareness Our project also assumes equalizing opportunities for people with limited social skills and disabilities. The participants of the project are all students of both primary schools, aged 10-15, attending our schools in the school year 2020/2021. During the time, all the students along with selected teachers will take part in various planned activities and projects. Some of the pupils and three members of staff from each school will participate in a mobility experience. The project involves two short-term exchanges of students and teachers, one exchange per school. During this mobility programme the students will participate in performances, shows, classes and projects, during which they will broaden their knowledge of the history and culture of partner countries, learn to be more open, tolerant, as well as improve communication skills and teamwork. In addition to the mobility project, the participants will be involved in activities foreseen in the schedule, which involves competitions, workshops, photo reports, blog writing and dissemination of the project results via Facebook and e-Twinning. The methods used during the mentioned activities include: the lecture, material presentation, workshop, project method, teaching through experience, discussion, brainstorming, working in a large group, working in a small group and others. The results include, first of all, achieving the desired goals, that is: gaining knowledge about the history and culture of the region, increasing the sense of responsibility for common values, improving basic skills and language competences of students participating in the project, exchanging good practices and applying them in partner schools, learning from the experience of work with potentially socially maljusted students. The implementation of the project will undoubtedly enhance the image of our schools among local institutions and communities. We will also be able to provide assistance and experience to neighboring schools in the area of good practices and international exchange.
The project titled “Regional traditions eternally living” involved 2 schools, Primary School from Koszyce Wielkie, Poland and Scoala Gimnaziala from Sinsimion, Romania. The participants of the project were all students aged 10-15 years, attending our schools in years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. The project was a response to the unsatisfactory results of surveys conducted among students of both schools on the knowledge of the region and language skills. In addition, we wanted to strengthen the long-term cooperation of Polish and Romanian youth, focusing on getting to know and popularizing the culture, folklore and folk art characteristic of the places where we live. The project pursued the following goals: - strengthening cooperation between partner schools, - fostering contact and intercultural dialogue of students between schools, - promoting learning of English as the main tool in international communication, - emphasizing the essence of culture, tradition and history of the region as an element of patriotism and national awareness. Our project also assumed equalizing opportunities for people with limited social skills and for people with disabilities. The assumed objectives of the project were implemented through the following activities: creating a historical performance by partner schools and disseminating them in English, e.g. on eTwinning platform, YouTube, organizing art and knowledge competitions on historical topics, participating in workshops on crafts, painting and cooking, participation in historical tours around partner school regions, preparing multimedia presentations and noticeboards by students about partner schools, including geographic location, national symbols, traditions, history and culture of the regions, promotion of important events in the history of Poland and Romania through photos of the celebrations of national holidays in English, Romanian and Polish. During the project, there were two short-term exchanges of students, one exchange per school. During these mobilities, students participated in performances, demonstrations, activities and projects where they broadened their knowledge of the history and culture of the partner countries, learned openness, tolerance, communicativeness and the ability to cooperate in a group. After the completed activities and mobility, project participants shared their knowledge and impressions with other students, both schools organized the Erasmus Day, the results and materials from the project were available on the school websites and eTwinning platform and the idea of participating in the project was disseminated in the region through articles in the local newspaper. Thanks to the participation in this project we achieved the intended goals, as evidenced by the results of evaluation surveys, observations and positive feedback from both project participants and the local environment. Moreover, the implementation of the project enhanced the image of our schools among local institutions and communities.
