Project summary

Theoretically, there is no need to explain the state of our environment and the Earth. However, if we touch the practical aspect of everyday choices in a spirit of care and caring for nature and ask about the goals of sustainable development, then the matter becomes more complicated. Observations, analyses and diagnosis of needs show that children do not have developed habits related to ecological attitude. Teachers, on the other hand, have little awareness of working on sustainable development goals. That is why we want our project to respond to the needs arising from a joint diagnosis, first of all, raise children's ecological awareness through local project activities and with international partnership. Five schools from different countries will participate in the project: Poland, Serbia, Spain, Greece and Turkey. We assume that at least 500 people - children, teachers and other kindergarten and school employees as well as representatives of local communities - will be involved in the project activities. The project was prepared on the basis of a thorough diagnosis of needs carried out by all partner countries and based on previous experience acquired during the implementation of eTwinning projects. By participating in it, we will achieve the following goals: 1. Raising ecological awareness of children aged 3-12 through local project activities with international partnership. 2. Improving methods of working with a child aged 3-12 in the field of ecological education using ITC techniques and methods "ASK, COLLECT, VISUALIZE, CREATE, ACT" by teachers of pre-school and early school education. 3. Learning about sustainable development goals during the project according to the Agenda 2030, in particular SDG 6,11,13 by children aged 3-12 to shape habits regarding daily choices and activities. 4. Transfer and dissemination of the results of project activities among children aged 3-12 to the community: parents, residents, local school and pre-school communities during the project and after its completion. For 24 months we will systematically work in project teams with children and teachers, performing the tasks provided in the schedule. We will create themed multimedia presentations (e.g. on endangered species of plants or animals), photo albums and videos (e.g. presenting songs on ecological topics), an e-book with a presentation of all SDGs and information brochures. We will participate in ecological, gardening and other workshops. We will visit places related to caring for our local environment, as well as establish cooperation with organizations related to the implementation of SDG. During 5 away meetings related to learning and teaching, teachers learn new work methods, exchange experiences in shaping competences related to nature protection. In addition, they will present the effects of children’s work, get to know each other through activities in international groups, jointly solve problems and develop skills through thematic workshops and meetings with important people (e.g. representatives of local authorities or National Geographic organizations). We will learn to use ITC techniques so that they mobilize children to go outside and take action related to the protection and proper management of the environment around us. We believe that such actions will encourage children to think about their future when making choices today. Thanks to the project, its participants will be more open to the world, its diversity . They will respect other cultures and traditions and take responsibility for local choices and actions that will have an impact on global climate gain. Participation in project activities will broaden the perception of the world - not only the closest environment. In addition, project participants will also improve their competences, especially language and IT skills. After the project, children: - will be more environmentally aware - they will be able to make informed decisions regarding their daily choices; - share their knowledge with other students, parents and the local community; - learn cooperation, including online; The teachers: - there will be exchange of experience in the international field; - the knowledge related to SDG will be deepened and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others through the developed methods will be improved The experience gained during the project activities will be transferred to the local and regional environment. The publications prepared for teachers will be the basis for creating innovations and further work in this area. The planned conferences will be an opportunity to promote the results of project activities (publications for parents and children) and to undertake subsequent cooperation in eTwinning projects created on the basis of our experience.

Final report summary

The theoretical state of our environment and the Earth does not need to be explained to anyone. However, if we touch upon the practical aspect of everyday choices in the spirit of care and concern for nature and ask about the objectives of sustainable development, the matter becomes more complicated. Observations, analyses and a needs diagnosis showed that children were not developing habits related to ecological attitudes. Teachers, on the other hand, had a low awareness of how to work on the Sustainable Development Goals. We wanted our project, responding to the needs arising from the joint diagnosis, to raise children's environmental awareness through local project activities and a joint international partnership. The project involved 5 schools from different countries: Poland, Serbia, Spain, Greece and Turkey. The assumptions and facts show that more than 500 people - children, teachers and other staff of kindergartens and schools, as well as representatives of local communities - were involved in the project activities. We are confident that the project has been and will continue to be a long-term success, as it was prepared on the basis of a thorough needs diagnosis carried out by all partner countries and based on previous experience gained during the implementation of eTwinning projects. By participating in it, we achieved the following objectives: 1. to raise the environmental awareness of children aged 3-12 through local project activities and joint international partnership. To improve methods of working with children aged 3-12 in the field of environmental education using ITC techniques and the methods "ASK, COLLECT, VISUALIZE, CREATE, ACT" by teachers of pre-school and early school education. 3. to learn during the project about the Sustainable Development Goals according to Agenda 2030, in particular SDGs 6,11,13 by children aged 3-12 years in order to form habits regarding daily choices and activities. 4 To transfer and disseminate the results of the project activities among children aged 3-12 to the community: parents, residents, local school and pre-school communities during and after the project. For the duration of the project, we worked systematically in project teams with children and teachers, carrying out the tasks set out in the schedule. We created thematic lesson plans and audio recordings, an e-book presenting our project and the "ASK, COLLECT,VISUALIZE, CREATE, ACT" method, and an ebook about the SDGs. We participated in ecological, gardening and other workshops. We visited places related to caring for our local environment, as well as networking with organisations related to the implementation of the SDGs. During the five mobilities, we learnt about working methods, exchanged experiences on the formation of competences related to nature conservation. In addition, there were: presentations of the results of the children's work, getting to know each other through activities in international groups, solving problems together and developing skills through thematic workshops and meetings with important people (e.g. representatives of local authorities or organisations such as the WWF, among others). We learnt to use ITC techniques to mobilise children to go out and take action to protect and properly manage the environment around us. We are convinced that the activities undertaken in this way have encouraged the children to think about their future when making choices. Thanks to the project, its participants are more open to the world, its diversity and difference. Project participants have been equipped with the values of respect for other cultures and traditions and responsibility for local choices and actions, which will ultimately translate into a global climate gain. Participation in project activities has broadened perceptions of the world - not just the immediate environment. An added aspect is that the project participants also improved their competences, especially in language and IT. After completing the project, the children: - are environmentally aware - are able to make informed decisions about their daily choices - they share their knowledge with other pupils, parents and the local community - have learned how to cooperate, including online In teachers: - there has been an exchange of experiences internationally - In teachers: there has been an exchange of experience in an international field; there has been an increase in knowledge related to the SDGs and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others using the methods developed. The experiences gained during the project activities have been and will continue to be transferred to the local and regional environment. The publications developed for teachers provide a basis for innovation and further work in this area. The planned and implemented conference forms provided an opportunity to promote the results of project activities and to undertake further cooperation in eTwinning projects based on our experience.
