Objectives

In 2019, the School's Education Project had three lines of action: pedagogical leadership; flexibility and curricular articulation; and the school-family relationship. The two themes we wanted to strengthen were part of the second and third lines of action. Therefore, The Erasmus team devised a project proposal that included four training courses and two job-shadowing activities aimed at the areas that needed improvement: tutorial support and cooperative work between students. In tutorial support, the aim was to attend training courses and get to know a school with good practices at this level, with a view to improving the educational success of students from more problematic family backgrounds, providing teachers with the role of tutors with contact with innovative and differentiating strategies in terms of tutoring. In terms of cooperative work between students, the proposal was to attend training courses and get to know a school with good practices at this level, which would allow teachers of PW, CD and other more practical subjects to have contact with pedagogical strategies for cooperative learning, leading to the strengthening of students' interpersonal skills.

Background

At the end of the 2018/19 School year, the school carried out a SWOT analysis based on the data provided by the institution's Self-Assessment Team. One of the conclusions was that an effort should be made to overcome two diagnosed weaknesses: the unsatisfactory results in terms of the tutorial support provided to students and the still limited scope for applying cooperative learning methods, taking into account the changes made to the school's curriculum, with the commitment to a new subject of an eminently practical nature (Project Work - PW) and the commitment to revitalizing the subject of Citizenship and Development (CD). On the other hand, an IGEC report dated March 2019, regarding the tutoring provided to students, clarified the need for the institution to invest in specific training at this level. In this sense, given the success of previous Erasmus+ projects, the Erasmus Team proposed that a new KA1 project be designed to improve the educational service provided by the institution in terms of the tutorial support offered to students, as well as the diversification of pedagogical strategies aimed at cooperative learning.
