The priority areas in this project were chosen according to the key documents of our “Agrupamento” and to the external assessment report. With this project, we aimed at our students’ development of 21st century skills, using the “whole school approach”, according to which the whole organisation should foster the critical thinking, participation and responsibility skills in all our students. Bearing in mind the size of this “Agrupamento”, the main goal intended was to develop a greater involvement of the schools’ communities in international projects. Our organisation has a strong need of innovative teachers, who are capable of using new methodologies in the classroom, take part in international projects and are able to improve their management and leadership skills, which will contribute decisively to our students’ success, in their future educational paths and integration in society. Some of the guidelines of this project are: education for citizenship and development based on the profile of the 21st century student; fostering the quality of our teaching practices, increasing the efficiency and quality of the teaching staff; dissemination of critical thinking, innovation and creativity skills.
Agrupamento da Póvoa de Santa Iria fosters quality and responsibility and aims at finding answers to the specific need of its human resources. It also aims at promoting multilingualism together with an inclusive multicultural education for our students. Our main concern is to promote the success of our students and fight early school leaving. The main goal of this project was to promote lifelong learning of its teachers in order to improve their professional qualifications as well as their skills and competences, which will be reflected on their teaching and management practices. This way, we believe that we will be able to focus on the teaching/learning processes at an European level, fostering innovative teaching practices and developing partnerships with other European schools.
