On one hand, we strongly believed that if we worked in partnership with another European colleagues and organisations, with different features and realities, and exchanged ideas and experiences, this would help us to cope better with our teaching/learning issues and, in a greater extent, to find new tools and strategies, so as to greater motivate our students and, in the long term, to bring up more informed, entrepreneurial and self-conscious European citizens, better prepared to face future challenges. On the other hand, our professionals would largely benefit from an european experience in a more personal level, such as communication in another language, having the chance to improve their english; enhance their soft skills, their proatictivity, entrepneurship and workteam and besides all these, have a cultural experience in a country of the UE.
Our school has applied to this project in order to have a first european intercultural and professional experience, by learning innovative tools and teaching strategies, exchanging knowledge and every day teaching and learning practices with european colleagues in a more dynamic environment. Furthermore, these goals become even more important due to the school´s location in a disadvantaged area, where there are many social and economic problems, such as addiction to drugs and alcohol, unemployment, and dysfunctional families, which undoubtedly affect, in a negative way, not only the emotional wellbeing of our children, but also their academic success. To our mind, Erasmus+ would allow us to face these everyday challenges more efficiently and overcome some difficulties providing an excellent opportunity to our school in a wide range of areas, not only regarding with professional growth but also personal achievement and more self confidence as teachers and educators. In a nutshell, our participation in Erasmus would help us to achieve the main goal of our school which is to provide opportunities to all students, without exception, to learn and grow in a healthy and well-balanced environment, stimulate curiosity and enhance children’s motivation in learning, and provide students with the most varied and different kinds of social and learning experiences, (formal and informal) by allowing them contact with a wide range of realities outside our premises
