This project would focus specifically on the development of computational thinking and pedagogical innovation skills, related to the needs identified above, for which there is clear evidence, at international and national level, of being completely unavoidable for the progress and evolution of teachers and students, always with a view to their adaptation and their growth in the face of the needs and demands of the 21st century. It was intended, therefore, to encourage an upgrade in the ways of thinking, being and behaving of students and teachers, so that they can properly follow the phenomenon of the massification of new technologies, but also the phenomenon of linguistic globalization, in which the English language occupies a prominent, central place.
Being a TEIP School, it presented as a central objective of the programme the prevention and reduction of early school leaving and absenteeism, the reduction of indiscipline and the promotion of educational success of all students and this would only be possible if the institution offered a more varied and appealing range of teaching-learning processes. As it was possible to see, through the analysis of the IGEC report, AETorrão showed lacks at several levels, the most significant ones concerning pedagogical and technological innovation. On the one hand, it was perceived that the use of new information and communication technologies in teaching practices was very restricted, limited only to the use of interactive whiteboards and in a more basic way. On the other hand, although a moodle platform was available and ready to function, there were no indications that it was being properly used by teachers of all subjects. Thus, it was urgent to prepare updated, innovative and creative responses to cope with what students need today and will need very soon, both as students and as workers in the near future.
