Background

Next Stop: Vila Verde XXI Our secondary school - Escola Secundária de Vila Verde - aims to establish itself as a reference school for the quality of the educational service provided, open to the community, innovation and based on values of collaboration, inclusion and solidarity, catalyzing and integrating collective energy. It seeks to privilege skills that lead students to multilingualism, autonomy and preparation for lifelong training and easy movement within Europe, allowing them to find future training and professional opportunities. It also aims to improve its performance in internationalization and the relevance of the European dimension of education. Some weaknesses and constraints to this modernization in our school were identified – some resistance to change, poor use of new technologies, insufficient foreign language skills, guardians concerned with academic success more from the perspective of results than of processes. Therefore, it was considered urgent to promote greater use of ICT in classes and provide some learning through innovative and more motivating teaching processes.
