To promote active methodologies and innovative approaches to learning; To improve the skills of professionals to respond to the individual needs of students and to deal with their social, cultural and linguistic diversity; To develop the spirit of citizenship, intervention in the community and school environment and forms of appropriation of scientific knowledge and development of discovery practices in this field; To conciliate the mastery of new technologies with physical development, the relationship with the environment and mental and physical health; To know ways to promote the school within the community and strategies for collaborative participation of Parents / Guardians in school life; To contact with examples of involvement of local companies, associations and universities in the development of the school purposes, in the anticipated knowledge of higher education offers and in the students' future perspectives; To know diversified school organisation models appropriate to current educational policies, innovative strategies for the pedagogical management of the school and ways to simplify administrative and bureaucratic procedures; To develop strategies for human resources management and leadership.
One of the great challenges of Agrupamento de Escolas Gil Eanes has been the attempt to find a single identity, which manifests itself horizontally in the way the different cycles, schools and teaching and student populations see and recognise each other but, above all, which is embodied vertically in a set of characteristics that individualise AEGE and make it one. In this sense, a deep reflection was made on the problems that characterise us, the resolution measures already implemented and to be implemented, and the motivations and capacities that unite us. Thus, "Communication, Art and Scientific Curiosity" were the three areas with which we wanted to identify ourselves and for which we want AEGE, its teachers and, above all, its students to be known. With the present legal framework, the possibility arose to carry out our intention, in a capable and accompanied way, so this project was built and implemented, along with the innovation plan underway at AEGE, based on three major training areas: 1. Pedagogy and Didactics in the classroom, 2. School - community and, 3. School Management.
