The CEFAE/EPFA wanted to provide participants with a wide range of skills in order to develop their potential as active citizens and professionals. The project was intended for participants and the school community, in general, to have contact with the real labour market in a European context, to improve their technical skills, to learn in an autonomous and continuous way, promoting the spirit of initiative, autonomy, the sense of organization, solidarity and responsibility, as well as learning/improving foreign languages. Knowing a new culture, customs, traditions were also objectives to achieve, a situation that would be unthinkable for almost all participants. They had also the opportunity to disseminate the Portuguese culture among the people they knew and in several institutions and cities they were. Participants have acquired a wide range of skills, thus contributing to increasing employability, competitiveness and European growth. The school, as an institution, has gained, because through contact with European entities it is able to improve the qualifications of the human ressources, in order to meet the demands of the world of work and globalisation.
With the aim of this project on "Improving skills in the European labour market" CEFAE/EPFA aimed to promote its participants the experience in the European labour market, in order to contribute to a workplacement experience period, in which they developed professional activities in order to improve their technical skills, relational and organizational, as well as personal habilities. Enabling students to participate and intervene assertively, fostering the active participation of students, as enlightened, responsible and participatory citizens are fundamental values of the school alongside the promotion of qualification, through the formation of double certification, that opened horizons for the participants, school community and surrounding community, because it allowed the exchange of experiences, methods, work tools, internationalizing the school and promotes cohesion and territorial development. As we live in the Region of The Lower Alentejo, which is one of the poorest regions of the European Union, where there is a lack of business and low population density, by participating in this project we tried to bring about innovative projects involving the whole community, in a European project.
