Objectives

There were 16 short-term learner mobilities with the aim of providing learners with a training experience in an international context, allowing them to get to know new cultural realities and develop linguistic, professional and pro-activity skills. At the same time, 3 Job-Shaddowing activities were carried out, the aim of which was to enable them to improve their professional skills in order to respond to the students' individual needs, through a broader understanding of the practices, policies and systems of education, training and work in other European countries. In the final stage of the 16 visits, 3 visits were made by accompanying teachers from the training areas included in the project. These teachers provided support to answer questions remotely and were in constant contact with the tutors from the intermediary organizations in order to plan and update the mobility, discussing any changes that needed to be made, as well as planning the validation and recognition processes for the skills acquired, according to the criteria pre-established with our organization and the host organization.

Background

The Vaz Serra Institute, as a School, aims to provide quality education that allows the development our students intellectual abilities, through adequate general and specific training, as well as promoting an improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants of Cernache do Bonjardim (municipality of Sertã, in the Pinhal Interior Sul region) where, like in no other region of the country, the burden of interiority weighs heavily . In this aspect we can highlight the low levels of academic qualifications of our students' guardians, with a large proportion having their academic qualifications completed in the fourth year of schooling and unemployment levels, particularly among women, are above 12%. As a team, we have sought to improve young people's professional development opportunities, as well as their integration into a constantly evolving job market. Taking into account the important role of guardians' academic qualifications in the performance of their students, it is not surprising that a promising future often seems beyond their reach. It is with this point in mind that we carry out our mission of training young citizens, of Europe and the world, who are autonomous and responsible.
