Objectives

With the implementation of this project we intend to: - Improve the employability of our students, regardless of their area of training. - To raise awareness among students of the importance of lifelong learning, taking into account that the labour market is increasingly demanding, competitive and expanded on a European/global scale. - Acquisition of language skills, namely English. Our students find it very difficult to communicate in a foreign language, despite the fact that it is part of the curriculum. The best way to overcome this difficulty is to have the need to communicate in English. For this reason, an internship abroad will be the best way to improve and overcome this obstacle. - Sensitization of participants to the understanding of interculturality. Because we are located in an archipelago, we sometimes do not have a sense of the European reality. Our students are always afraid to leave the island, to travel abroad. Over the years, the school has made a great effort to combat this resistance and we have encouraged our students to participate in this type of project. - Improve learning performance, namely through the acquisition of skills in the specific technical areas of each course. At the end of the course, it is important that our trainees have had at least one internship period in a company, abroad, as a way of improving and acquiring new skills. - Increase the number of partnerships for the development of future projects.

Background

Our school, due to the fact that it is located in an island region, has invested a lot in its internationalization. We are fully aware of the importance of strengthening the European dimension in Education and the advantages arising from cooperation and the sharing of pedagogical experiences, as sources of innovation and inspiration for pedagogical development and, for this reason, since 2001 we have been promoting projects at European level. Also, in this sense, it should be noted that our School has been a member, since 2005, of the AEHT – European Association of Hospitality and Tourism Schools. On the other hand, we intend to establish more collaborative partnerships with different schools in different countries. With this project we intend to respond to the challenges/needs mentioned below, which are in line with the objectives defined in our School Educational Project and, simultaneously, with the principles and criteria defined in the European Quality Charter for Mobility. In our School Educational Project, the challenges and needs of our organization are well identified, being defined in terms of central objectives, including: Main objective 3- To improve the overall performance of students Main objective 4 - Increase the level of competence in foreign languages Main objective 5 - To improve the professional integration of students
