Objectives

With this project we intended to promote more autonomy and professional skills in our students. With the support of international partnerships and of the tutors in the host companies, we expected to achieve the following: -to give these youngsters the opportunity to know more of the sociocultural and working reality of other European countries and the opportunity to develop their European citizenship in a more active and responsible way, both in linguistic and in intercultural terms; - to share different experiences that should be reflected in their future professional project; - to facilitate the systematization of knowledge, developing skills such as to "know how to do things", "know how to behave" and "know how to be" (as a human being and a citizen), all of them fundamental in today’s labour market, not only in Portugal, but also all over Europe; - to encourage our teachers to participate in a strategic change plan that would bring changes to the way we work and would make formation at work more profitable for everyone. That sharing attitude would bring about rich learning experiences, new ways of working, centred in e-learning, collaborative project co-work and other new fundamental methods to prevent demotivation.

Background

Our school aims at high quality teaching by having in mind the formation of multicultural citizens accomplished with the necessary internationalization of our students. We have always tried hard to promote a broaden worldview and a European citizenship, which may be confirmed by the several Exchange, Comenius and Erasmus projects. It was our opinion that a wider and global project could help us achieve those aims: the globalization strategy of the school, on the one hand, and helping our students in the familiarization with the European labour market, on the other hand. This plan took into consideration the main lines of the “Europe 2020 Strategy” document. Experiencing and approaching what is going on around Europe is vital for our growth as a school, as an institution that helps teenagers turn into men and women. This project was built according to the European Development Plan and a few main objectives were drawn: to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment; to fight against the lack of some technical skills of our teenagers; to value and understand key ideas studied throughout the course and to create employment opportunities, facilitating the mobility of human resources in Europe.
