The main objectives of this project had been: Ensuring equal opportunities to all students; to allow the pupils to acquire and develop the necessary skills and competences for their employability, in order to facilitate the transition from the school education to the world of work; to contribute to create in the learners the taste for an active participation in the society, through the development of students personal and social competencies, such as autonomy and cooperation; to stimulate students awareness of the European issues; to improve the students’ self-esteem; to increase the number of pupils attending vocational educational courses; to promote and develop the students extra competences in foreign languages. We also aimed the students to develop the necessary skills to adapt to new situations and to develop long-life competences, such as: communicating and working in teams, cultural awareness, reasoning and solving problems. We expect this project to have a positive impact in the promotion of the internationalization concept, while supplying the guided lines for other potential pupils interested in Erasmus+ mobility.
The project started with a series of situations identified within the school community. First of all, the school is situated in a rural zone, where a great number of pupils have few opportunities and reveal different needs in what concerns assuring the equality in education. Secondly, the students from poor economic backgrounds show low levels of self-esteem and motivation. Thus, they are students at risk of dropout before the end of compulsory schooling, and therefore the chances of succeeding in the marketplace are very limited; in third place, the vocational courses are faced as the last chance to conclude the studies which contributes to a stigma of this type of courses. Finally, the pupils, and youngsters in general, need to get to know the values and principles of a European citizen and assuming them as their values. Knowing that to assure mobility for learning purposes is one of the objectives of the Education 2030 framework, it is expected that students with vocational qualifications also have international competences. In this line, this mobility project “EUROPE, here I go”, constitutes a way to promote and to assure internationality.
