With the project "Professional Discoveries and European Citizenship - DPECE” in 2020, before the pandemic, it was intended to provide a professional internship in a European country to 20 young trainees from the 11th and 12th years of the Professional Courses. carry out 2 preparatory visits for the Pro mobilities. Not all of these requested mobilities were approved. Our 20 young people from the project come from a poor region in the north of Portugal. We asked for 10 companions so that at each destination, on the outward and return journey, there would be a teacher for each group. This point was very important because our students were not at all familiar with the procedures inherent in traveling abroad. They were young people who were preparing for professions related to design, the arts, sports and laboratory analyses. The courses they attended included 610 hours of Training in the Workplace (internship) in companies or institutions in your professional field. The Project was going to allow the internship to take place abroad with all the professional, social and linguistic gains that the stay abroad provides.
We are a Group of Schools with Professional Education. We submit a candidacy for this project to correspond to the need to materialize the European dimension in the citizenship of young people. We also wanted to open our students' professional, cultural and social horizons by carrying out a curricular internship for our students in a country in the EU. In today's Europe, contact with a new culture, with a new language is assumed as a tool that enhances equal opportunities. Our young people suffer from a general lack of cultural opportunities. With this project, we try to provide young people who attend professional courses in our Group of Schools with a unique and unfortunately unrepeatable opportunity in their lives to broaden their geographical, linguistic and cultural horizons. It was a concrete response financed by European funds aimed at a socio-economic stratum with fewer opportunities. The project aimed to provide the experience of training in a work context for students in the 11th and 12th years of professional courses in Sports, Design and Laboratory Analysis. It also aimed to provide work experience for newly graduated students.
