Objectives

The project "Generation Start-up" is proposed by 6 youth non-profit organizations and one informal group with the aim to develop a network of European youth workers specialized in entrepreneurship education with an emphasis on social entrepreneurship. Moreover, during the project, they have expanded their knowledge in this topic and discovered concrete knowledge, tools, entrepreneurial ecosystems to guide young people to develop their ENTRECOMP skills. During the mobility, 31 youth workers have mapped their local ecosystems, explored the current programmes that support the entrepreneurial initiatives of the young people, and tested a selection of non-formal activities included in the Generation Start-up toolkit. One of the objectives of the project is to prepare youth workers as mentors for young social entrepreneurs, in their early stages considering the trends from the 2020 Entrepreneurship Action Plan and the 3 areas for immediate intervention: entrepreneurship education and training to support growth and business creation; removing existing administrative barriers and supporting entrepreneurs in the crucial phases of the business life cycle and boosting the entrepreneurial culture in Europe and guiding the new generation of entrepreneurs. These are aligned with one of the priorities of the Erasmus + programme: reducing the high level of youth unemployment. The European NGOs involved in the project have guided young people to develop skills and competencies to access the labour market and attract funding resources available for business development. The first specific objective of the project was to develop the skills of 31 youth workers and knowledge in education on social entrepreneurship through an 8-day training course for youth workers, local workshops for European youth workers and workshops dedicated to young NEETs, as well as the development of a set of digital tools for entrepreneurship education and social entrepreneurship. The second specific objective was to raise awareness among young people regarding start-up opportunities and experiences of young entrepreneurs through the stories of young entrepreneurs. Together with the partner organisations, we have identified inspirational young people who launched their own local start-ups. The third objective was to map with the support of the youth workers the entrepreneurship hotspots from their countries and create digital maps with their local ecosystems: NGOs, universities, private projects in which youth workers and young people have been able to develop their knowledge in the field of social entrepreneurship and can identify new learning and development opportunities to be promoted in workshops dissemination.
