Objectives

According to Eurostat, in 2018, 21.7% of the European population was at risk of poverty or social exclusion. In this group, young people (16-29 years) represent 26.7% of the entire population in this situation. Often these problems are accompanied by situations of exclusion related to ethnic, religious, gender, economic, geographical, social, etc. issues. For the consortium, it is extremely relevant to create a range of actions, initiatives and dynamics that foster social inclusion, tolerance and diversity, through participatory and integrative methodologies that bring young people from different contexts into interaction, enabling them to (self-)acquire competences and values that are fundamental to their full development by providing opportunities for expression, mobility and learning which are urgently needed. Therefore, the social problem that this project intends to solve is the social exclusion of young people with fewer opportunities that, due to the absence of effective methods to promote social inclusion and tolerance, end up being apart from society. This is an important and neglected problem, so it is urgent to create dynamics, actions and policies that eradicate it and this exchange aims to contribute to this through cultural dynamics. All organisations involved in this project are committed to their work in the context of youth, social inclusion, diversity and culture and have experience in developing Erasmus + projects. This is a solid and motivated partnership to improve and transform the social reality of disadvantaged young people through culture. GENERAL AIM - Promoting social inclusion, diversity and tolerance in young people through culture, especially through dance. SPECIFIC AIMS - Create dynamics for youth empowerment and the promotion of social inclusion, diversity and tolerance and foster active participation through NFE; - Promote interculturality, dialogue and european values; - Raise awareness of the importance of cultural and artistic expression, particularly dance, for the personal, social and professional development of young people; - Promote equality of access to inclusive and participatory opportunities; - Promote the development and sharing of competences, best practices and tools among participating organisations for the implementation of transnational initiatives; - Disseminate the results and social impacts obtained by the project in order to replicate its good practices in other social contexts; - Strengthen transnational partnerships between organisations working on youth, social inclusion and culture; - Continue the Express U project! - The New Cultural Engagement to Social Inclusion. NEEDS - Promote common european values such as tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality; - Promote inclusive and participatory initiatives and opportunities for young people through culture; - Finish with the passivity in decision-making and alienation of disadvantaged young people from different areas of society; - Encourage the recognition of social inclusion and diversity as a way for young people's personal, social and professional development. - Equip youth organisations and youth workers with competences and tools to improve and innovate their work with young people. The Express U! II is the second youth exchange that DCTR intends to develop under the Erasmus+ Programme and is a continuation of the funded activity 2019-2-PT02-KA105-006074. The consortium understands that the first exchange was a success and was able to respond to the problem and needs outlined. This second edition aims to broaden the results and positive impacts of youth exchange and thus create a new opportunity for other disadvantaged young people to experience the experience of participating in an international exchange and enjoying all the advantages it offers. With this project, participants with fewer opportunities will feel valued and belonging, which will foster self-acceptance and awareness of opportunities regardless of their obstacles and social contexts. The achievement of the proposed objectives, outcomes and impacts will enable the construction of a future generation more aware to tolerance, equality, respect, inclusion and diversity.
