Objectives

"Extremely Against Extremism in Europe" was a youth exchange between young people from 6 different countries of the European Union and Neighboring Partner countries that has been realized by a group of young people from 30th of August to 08th of September, 2021 in Yerevan, Armenia. The Youth Exchange was a joint venture of young people with different backgrounds who live in different European countries and face similar challenges - radicalization and extremism. The Youth Exchange took place in Armenia and engaged young people from the Erasmus+ Programme countries (Portugal and The Republic of North Macedonia) and the Neighboring partner countries of the EU (Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Ukraine). By implementing this project we tackled the issues of radicalization, extremism and migration. With the refugee crisis, the European values have been questioned. Having so many different cultures coexisting together in Europe has become a problem and there is an obvious growth of racist and xenophobic ideas and attitudes. In an economically and socially challenging moment for Europe, it is important to stress that diversity should be treasured and promoted. Young people who were behind this project believe that Intercultural Dialogue, Learning and Communication are the best tools to promote youth de-radicalization, tolerance and cultural acceptance. The main aim of the Youth Exchange was to gather young people from 6 different countries to discuss how the Intercultural Learning can be used as a tool against radicalization and exchange ideas on the concepts of intercultural society which have become controversial. The concrete objectives of our Youth Exchange were the following: A. Discuss the concept of intercultural learning and how young people can avoid creating more stereotypes; B. Learn about cultural diversity in different parts of Europe and exchange ideas on intercultural society; C. Develop a shared understanding of the concept of intercultural learning and multiculturalism; D. Debate on how Intercultural Learning can be used as a tool to fight radicalization; E. Develop a good working knowledge of Erasmus+ programme and how young people can use it to promote tolerance and anti-discrimination; F. Develop new projects together promoting intercultural dialogue among different cultures and communities in Europe. Youth is the most active part of the society and it’s crucial to give them the possibility to gather and feel each other, their differences and their similarities, exchange the experience and the information, have eye contact and understand that they are all equal just have differences in cultural and language spheres, but the essence is the same. That’s why organized this exchange on Intercultural learning and Intercultural Communication. The purpose of our Youth Exchange was to show young people how they can avoid stereotypes in their countries and how they can live with the representatives of different cultures and countries. Also we wanted to show the diversity which has made Europe closely inter-related to other continents.
