Our main aim with the implementation of this project was to raise awareness/understanding about environmental, social and economic issues and to give youngsters tools to help build more sustainable communities in all of the three areas mentioned. We believe we achieved this goal as we proceed to explain. With this project we achieved the following objectives: 1 - We teached youngsters how to reduce waste in all 4 mains areas of their life with practical solutions: food; fashion; hygiene; and electronics. We shared practices on zero waste living. We raised awareness on the topic of overproduction and overconsumption and what we can do as consumers to help stop it at the core. 2 - We educated the youngsters in terms of recycling, teaching them what is and isn’t actually possible to be recycled and how to know the difference in order to support this process and not contaminate it. 3 - We spread the support for local businesses. We had 2 very important guests from portugal exchange ideas with our group: the local business named “re.store” which it’s sustainable production chain was presented by it’s entrepreneur Silvia Correia; and Carlos Santos from a portuguese entrepreneur hub named “Human Power Hub” that debated with us on how to build a sustainable business from the ground. 4 – We spread a light on the Fast Fashion issue, providing youngsters with a checklist of questions to help them shop for more sustainable items regarding manufacturing process, materials used, transportation and social conditions of the workers behing the production. 5- We raised awareness of the carbon footprint; 6 – We promoted media literacy on climate change topics: how to identify a credible source; Overall we trained 40 people on how to live more sustainable and gave them the tools to pass this knowledge on to their communities and into the world. But besides the objectives directly linked with the theme of the project, we also achieved objectives directly linked with those of the Erasmus programme, particularly, we promoted intercultural dialogue on sustainable issues, encouraged entrepeneurship, helped youngsters with fewer opportunities to have a mobility opportunity and promoted the youth pass competences during the whole project.
