Objectives

The main objective of the project was to gain the skills necessary to implement the Anti-bullying Strategy at the teachers’ level, first by creating 36 educational resources for formal/non-formal learning on the topic of anti-bullying (for example, didactic materials, worksheets, portfolios of student results and products, knowledge clips, lesson plans on the topic of bullying and cyberbullying, etc.) and at least two procedures, at the end of the project, so that at least 50% of the students in the target group, identified at the beginning, register a quantifiable academic progress in the formative and summative assessments during the next 4 years. Another achievable target is the prevention and the management of the situations caused by acts of bullying in an efficient manner, by at least 30% in the next 2 years, respectively 40% in the next 4 years, through the development of social inclusion skills at the students’ level, emotional intelligence and social intelligence. Thus, the aim was to preserve the full number of students enrolled at the beginning of 2020 by increasing the graduation percentage of students at the end of the school year (at least 50% of the students identified at the beginning of the project) and at the national exams (at least 10% of the students identified at the beginning of the project).

Background

The project responded to a need of our high school, identified by the project team, the school psychologist and the members of the school's disciplinary committee. The teachers involved highlighted the existence of a vulnerable group of students, with specific characteristics, aggressors and aggressed alike, who faced difficulties in school progress, and the presence of acts of bullying, as well as the lack of specific skills that teachers need in order to manage these cases as efficiently and as fast as possible. Also, the teachers noted the lack of procedures for these situations, the weak involvement of parents in solving cases of aggression and segregation, multiple difficulties reported by the form teachers in terms of class management, the lack of resource materials adapted to the specifics of our high school in bullying situations.
