Objectives

The purpose of the project was to provide teaching staff with the skills necessary to detect, prevent and intervene in bullying situations. The objectives of the project were: O.1. At least 40% of the school's form-teachers should participate in training courses run by European institutions on the issue of bullying in the real or virtual environment. O.2. Increasing by at least 5% the level of satisfaction and comfort among students regarding the school environment and the atmosphere within the college. O.3. Involvement of a minimum of 10 parents of students in activities to prevent bullying phenomena. O.4. Identifying in the college and solving at least 5 bullying or cyberbullying situations. We also followed the achievement of some priorities from the institution's European development plan: Priority 2. Development of human resources: - continuous training of teaching staff through courses aimed at educating students in order to ensure safety and well-being; Priority 3. Development of community relations: - the active involvement of the family in the school activity; - encouraging exchanges of experience with students and teachers from other schools, from the country or from the European Community

Background

In our college, there has been an increased interest in institutional development through participation in European projects for many years. The projects carried out in recent years have emphasized the importance of changing behaviors, in order to reduce the discomfort created by prejudices, discrimination and conflicts. The application to the "A Safer School, a Friendlier School" project was part of the institution's actions to change the attitude of both teachers and students in order to stop bullying and cyber-bullying conflicts. In our school, conflicts primarily take the form of psychological pressure and verbal attacks and less physical abuse. The first to find out and intervene in these situations are the form-teachers. Through this project, we wanted to increase the number of teachers qualified to prevent and intervene in bullying situations, with the aim of increasing the degree of comfort and safety that students feel when they come to school. A safer school becomes a friendlier school for students, and the consequence is that they will be absent less. In order to achieve our goal, we involved a number of 11 form-teachers and the director of the institution in professional training programs on the issue of bullying.
