Objectives

We had in mind the improvement of the competences of the library staff under the authority of the mayor's office, as well as of the librarian volunteers who support the programs and projects of the library by promoting the level of awareness of a European lifelong learning space, intended to complement policy reforms at the level national and to support the modernization of education and training systems. The participants in the mobility courses learned how they can increase awareness and prevent bullying/cyberbullying in our community, they discovered new methods and tactics needed to deal with bullying, cyberbullying and conflicts. Together with trainers from Cyprus, France , Spain and Turkey learned how to create a safer family, social or learning environment, how to recognize bullies' signs of intimidation, but also how to quickly identify their victims, as well as techniques to combat and prevent bullying. They learned how to use innovative, modern and successful methods to mitigate the effects of bullying (by using art or reading as a therapeutic tool). By studying cyber-bullying, prevention and intervention in social networks, electronic mail, messages (text and multimedia), publishing videos and photos on electronic platforms for the dissemination of content, they improved their ICT skills.Upon returning from mobility, I organized a new library service through which I offered free universal intervention courses to the adults in the community to reduce and prevent bullying in the community. The intended impact takes into account the increase in the number of services intended for adults offered by our library, the increase in the visibility and role of the librarian and our library in the local community, but also in the professional communities, the increase in the number of events, but also in the number of users who participate in them.

Background

The development plan of our institution provides for the continuous improvement of the staff in our institutions. Even if in recent years courses have been organized for our staff, they had in mind the development of other professional skills: project manager, taxes and duties, ethics and integrity in public institutions, etc., without emphasizing the training of staff in working with the public, daily action of all our employees. At the meetings with parents that took place at the library, we were confronted with the lack of training of the staff (librarians, employees and librarian volunteers) who deal with the education of parents, related to the prevention and production of the phenomenon of bullying, respectively cyber-bullying.
