RAA objectives for HEPAS project consisted of: Increasing competencies of needs assessment of health education services & training related to autism for 6 professionals working in this area through job shadowing within a host organization. Improving RAA's capacity to develop new training materials & new training programs addressed to parents of ASD & professionals working in the field, as a result of 5 days European exchange. Improving the quality of the content produced within the Strategic Partnership European Project HEDY - Health Education for Disabled Youth - a project aiming to produce a 4 e-learning package on health education for special school teachers in 5 languages. Developing at least two European partnership projects to be submitted under ERASMUS + partnership program as a result of the mobility activities.
The application was aimed at increasing RAA's competencies in adopting new strategies, models of intervention for health education for children with disabilities and in developing new training content on health education, using interactive and modern technologies for professionals working with children and young people with autism. Health education programs for children, adolescents and young people with autism and other disabilities are missing in Romania. There are very few organisations working with or for teenagers or young people with autism and there is no training for professionals addressing issues related to health, sexuality and reproductive rights, relationship and independent living of people with autism and other disabilities. There are, however, many models of good practice in several European countries such as Finland, Belgium or Iceland. Therefore, organizing a mobility activity in one of these countries would not only increase competencies but also create long-term cross-border cooperation and learning exchange.
