The project's main objective was the professional development of our school's teachers who teach in the "Second Chance" program. By implementing the project, the 3 teachers who participated in the training course: - they acquired teaching techniques and worked with adults in the field of adult education; - developed their pedagogical skills by understanding student-centered, emancipatory methods in adult education, especially Boal's; - they have developed personal, communication, social, and civic skills (active citizenship, collaboration, creativity, trust, flexibility and adaptability, negotiation, critical thinking, imagination, reflection and awareness, fluency and interculturality); - have provided and exercised creative ideas and practical resources for the successful implementation of student-centered and emancipatory methods in adult education - shared the experiences of student-centered and emancipatory methods in adult education from different organizations, - the consolidation of European collaboration between people involved in adult education in different contexts -providing perspectives on different education systems - they promoted the wide linguistic diversity of the EU.
Considering the specifics of the area (disadvantaged, mono-industrial area), the financial problems of the families, their low level of culture and education and the increased risk of school dropout, we proposed to transform threats and weaknesses into opportunities, being closer to the community and carrying out activities specific to the area. Our school has little experience in the "Second Chance" program, at the time we applied for this project, in our country, the offer of training courses specific to the program was non-existent. Through this project, we wanted the professional development of teachers at the European level, and the improvement of educational practices and methods. The project was a way of innovation, of making the educational act more efficient, of improving the school results, of adapting the educational process to contemporary reality, and, at the same time, a means of increasing the prestige of the school at the level of the local community. We promoted the emergence and awareness of a European learning space to support the modernization of education and training systems, through better use of EU transparency and recognition tools and the dissemination of good practices.
