The project "Tolerance and harmony through film and photography" was an exchange of young people that took place over 8 days, between August 22 and 31, 2021, in "La Padure" in Brebu, Caras-Severin County. This exchange was attended by 42 young people and 6 group leaders from Macedonia, Greece, Lithuania, Spain, Turkey and Romania. The problem for young people was that they felt the targets of discrimination and bullying and needed the association to involve them in finding solutions to combat and reduce them by initiating a project that would change the attitude and mentality of the majority towards the minority. The aim of this project was to empower the 48 young people with skills and competencies to reduce bullying and discrimination, through public events that promote the cultural values of the community through film and photography. The objectives of this project were: O1: to enrich the knowledge of the 48 young people from the 6 European countries regarding bullying and discrimination, in the time of the exchange; O2: to develop the skills and competencies of the 48 young people from the 6 European countries for making films and photos to combat bullying and discrimination during the exchange; O3: to involve the 48 young people from the 6 European countries in public events to promote tolerance through film and photography during the project. Through our approach we wanted to produce a change in the perception of majorities towards minorities, to build, through the joint effort of discriminated Roma and non-Roma youth, an example of tolerance and inclusion, promoting their cultural values through film and photography at public events. The young people learned together from the experiences of other countries about audio-visual and photographic art for accepting the different, promoting tolerance. We believe that through this project young people discovered new skills and competencies, they improved their communication, their self-esteem, they managed to transmit through films and photographs messages that generate emotion and respect, an idea of change, tolerance and acceptance that would stop discrimination and reduce bullying. Young people also learned more about the Erasmus + program, the Youthpass certificate and its use in learning and employment. This project has contributed to the specific objective of the Erasmus + program - to improve the level of skills and abilities of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, but also European priorities at national level: developing social, civic and intercultural skills, combating discrimination, bullying (including cyberbullying), violence. The project promoted inclusion, diversity, equality, gender balance and non-discrimination, as well as priority specific to the field - active citizenship of young people, especially those at risk of social exclusion.
